VIPDolphins (Praça do Povo, 9000-900 Funchal, Portugal) offers a stunning all-inclusive wale- and dolphin-watching tour on a catamaran. The meeting point is the VipDolphins kiosk, which is located on the Marina Nova of Funchal, next to “Praca do Povo”.
In the pictures, you can see the Atlantic Spotted Dolphins, which are a relatively small species, measuring between 1,7 to 2,3 meters long, and weighing between 50 to 120 kilos. They have a light-grey colour and no spots when they are born, but these appear later in life, usually from around 5 years old.
It’s a sociable and very active species, which interacts a lot with the boats that are watching them, swimming alongside and in front of the boat, and frequently jumping.
The Atlantic Spotted Dolphin can be seen in the tropical and temperate waters of the Atlantic Ocean. In Madeira, they are seen more often in the spring and summertime, feedig, socialising and reproducing.
However, they can also be seen at any time of the year.
