The Christus-Statue of Madeira (Cristo Rei do Garajau) is located in Canico, a few kilometres from the capital Funchal. The 14 meter high statue was erected on 30. October 1927 and is thus four year older than the world famous Christus-Statue in Rio de Janeiro.
It was built by the French artist George Serraz (1883 – 1964).
