Bresica | 06.10.2017

Today, we went to the beautiful town of Brescia, which is located roughly 40 kilometres north-east of Sirmione. It took us about an hour to get there. We first explored the many sights this city has to offer. Very quickly, however, we got hungry and decided to sit down in a small café. As it was still rather warm, we mingled outside between the locals and ordered some delicious food.

Once full and happy, we started looking into buying a birthday cake for Aaliyah. She loves this stuff and was very excited to find a petite shop which sold nicely decorated handmade muffins. We bought four.

This out of the way, we went back to the car and drove to the Castello die Bresica.

“The castle is called the “Falcon of Italy” because of its position on the summit of the hill, where it overlooks the city from above. It is one of the largest fortified complexes in Italy with 75,000 square metres enclosed within its surrounding walls.. The old Venetian-Visconti stronghold dominates the city and its well preserved buildings illustrate the evolution in military techniques that over time have rendered the defensive system impregnable and made it a perfect instrument to control the city for the various “dominators” who succeeded one another in Brescia.” (Source: http://www.turismobrescia.it/en/punto-d-interesse/castle)
