Matala, Crete | 17.08.2021

Matala is a small village on the south coast of Crete. It is regarded a Hippie town and this shows everywhere, but especially in the street and wall paintings that cover the city. The night-life is really good with lots of small bars and restaurants as well as little independet shops.

The beach in a little bay is in the south concluded by a mountain in which various caves are present. Unfortunately, there is only limited access to the caves – they are surrounded by a fence. The beach has lots of sunbeds and umbrellas and is a mixture of gravel and sand. Overall, the Matala beach is probably not the nicest of all the beaches in Crete.
