Sevilla – The Metropol Parasol | 01.03.2019

The Metropol Parasol is the biggest wooden structure in the world – it is located at the La Encarnación square in Seville, Spain. The construction consists of six parasols that look like giant mushrooms. It was designed by the German architect Jürgen Mayer, who completed the parasol in April 2011 with dimensions of 150 by 70 metres and an approximate height of 26 metres.

The Metropol Parasol is arranged in four levels with Level 0 housing an Antiquarium (showing Roman and Moorish remains) and Level 1 – at street level – hosting the Central Market. The roof of Level 1 is an open-air public plaza that is shaded by the parasols and used for public events. Level 2 and 3 are panoramic terraces that offer a spectacular view of the city centre.
